There are also state park RV campgrounds here to stay the night at. Cedar Hill State Park was established in 1982 but didn’t open to the public until 1991. There is a lake, hiking trails, forests, and more to explore while motorhome camping in the area. Getting Outdoors

Cedar Hill State Park has a wide array of outdoor activities to enjoy, and folks who spend the night camping with an RV can get an early start on activities. Some of the most popular activities at the park include hiking, biking, picnicking, camping, geocaching, swimming, fishing, and more. There are also plenty of spots to sit and watch nature, explore local plants, and keep your eyes peeled for birds of many varieties.

Exploring the park on both foot and bike is a fantastic way to get around, and one of the main trails in the park is the Dallas Off-Road Biking Trail. This trail, which is known as the DORBA Trail, navigates through more than 1,200 acres and can be used by both hikers and bikers. Be aware that the trail is closed after heavy rain, for safety, so be sure to call ahead if there has been wet weather in the area before your trip for details.

Fishing is also popular at the park, and many anglers enjoy casting lines in Joe Pool Lake. This lake is home to largemouth bass, black bass, crappies, catfish, and more. There are two fishing jetties that have lights and a small perch pond for kids to practice their casting and reeling. Additionally, two boat ramps make it easy to get your boat in and out of the water while RV camping at Cedar Hill State Park. A fishing license is required to fish here, so be sure to update yours before your trip.

Camping at Cedar Hill State Park

It is easy to enjoy some state park RV camping at Cedar Hill State Park, thanks to the 350 developed RV compatible campsites within park boundaries. All of the campsites are within easy walking distance to restrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers, and many of the sites are ADA-compliant. Of the total 350 sites, 150 of them have full hookups that include both 30 and 50 amp electricity, water, and sewer hookups.

The other 200 RV campsites only have electricity and water, so campers at these sites will have to visit centrally located sewer dump stations when necessary. All of the campsites at the park have their own picnic table, fire ring, and grill for additional convenience. Because of this state park’s close proximity to Dallas, these campgrounds often fill up fast, so be sure to reserve your site after you sort out the details of your RV rental.
