Can't find a camp site?- NO problem! This amazing RV can dry camp or boondock for 2-4 days without hookups! Please note- dry camping is spring, summer, fall only. RV is winterized in the winter months to prevent frozen pipes. It is NOT a 4x4.The ERA gets amazing GAS Mileage 16-19 MPG turbo Diesel.Seating for 8 in seat belts, it is made to Sleep 2-3 people. It is possible to sleep 1-2 additional children in makeshift seat beds or bring or rent a tent (see below for better descriptions of sleeping options).Beautiful on the inside and out. Not like the swirly "look we are tourist!" type RVs that are brand new, but look like the came straight out of the 80s!. Everyone wants to see our RV when we are out and says things like you are the "hip" "cool" parents. We bought this amazing RV to take our 5 kids on a 5000 mile road trip to the East coast. It was amazing! And we actually still like each other— usually. We looked at lots of RVs that slept more people, but could not seat more than 4 in seat belts. Their seats were really uncomfortable and they usually faced each other with a table between them and lots of opportunity to kick each other by “accident”. In the ERA, everyone has lots of space! Having our own bathroom and kitchen while traveling is Incredible! Before we bought it, the kids would have to stop at nearly every other nasty gas station bathroom every half hour! Then, of course it takes at least 20 minutes to get them all back in the car! Parent stress! Not any more! Yeah! If you have kids you know what I mean!Still reading? You must really like this van! Just call me already! Still want more? Read on in the next sections to learn what is included and what to expect.Good planning, respect and communication are essential- I am a mom, not a rental agency. Thanks! What's includedMore about the ERA:
2 TVs, Hundreds of stored movies on our Mac mini (mostly family friendly or PG13 or lower rating) and a DVD player.
Integrated inside bathroom with shower as well as an outdoor hose to spray down your kids before they get back in!Dually 4 back wheels for greater stability. Easy to drive and park. Huge picture windows offer wonderful views.Rear AC that can run off of a generator while driving when needed, propane thermostat heater, comfortable soft leather-like seats. Outdoor outlets for movies and music, automatic awning with lights. You can camp off the grid with the generator and solar. It is best to be plugged in when its an option so you don't eat up your generator gas.Kitchen has a 3 burner gas stove, sink, fridge with great storage, small freezer and convection microwave, included kitchen supplies 2 pans, 1 griddle, 2 pots, a bowl/colander, microwaveable dish, basic spices, spatulas, large spoon, fire starter, knives, cutting board, spray oil, olive oil, (you could even bake a cake if you really wanted to!) Please specify if you would like dishes and utensil (most do paper), specify if you would like the small kettle or coffeemaker (takes grinds). There are cubbies all around the cabin for everyone's gear (rent our hitch container for more storage).Seating and Sleeping:
There are 2 captain chairs behind the driver's and passengers seats, and a back bench with seat belts for 8. The back bench can easily SEAT 3-4 normal sized children or skinny teenagers in the 4 seatbelts OR 3 medium adults comfortably. It automatically reclines into any position while driving and down to a wide almost king sized bed at night. The ERA is marketed at sleeping 2-3 (if you sleep tent style on the back bench).
Our creative sleeping tips- The van is not marketed to do this but this is how we squeeze in if we all want to sleep inside. The front driver and passenger seats can recline completely and match up with the captain chairs in the main cabin to make 2 beds for children or youth smaller than 130 lbs and about 5'6 or shorter- they usually curl up when they sleep anyway! If you would like that option please select the "twin bed add on" so we can provide the leveling pillows and bedding. The ERA is not marketed to make these chairs into beds, but it has worked for us for short term trips. How we fit 7 (2 adults plus 5 kids ranging in age from 5-15): We can fit my husband and I and 1 of our LITTLE kids in the king sized bed (its a bit tight depending on how your little one moves when they sleep). 2 more kids on the combo front reclined & middle seats and our 4th and 5th child on the floor on mats. But honestly—we usually just throw the tent and hammocks outside the RV and let the kiddos fend for themselves while we sleep comfortably in the RV. Ha ha!Extras:
Coming from out of town?- Need bedding and towels- please let us know. These items add time to our turn around, so there is a nominal add on fee for these items.
Rent: Tents, sleeping bags, camping chairs, mats, extra coolers etc. We have a variety, so if you need some let us know and we can rent you some of ours.Rent our Large hitch locking container. (you can NOT put the hitch container and the bikes on at the same time)Rent Hitch Bike rack- Yakima swing out away from the back doors- says it fits 6 bikes but its a bit tight with 6 road bikes. For Mt bikes it would only fit 4. (you cannot put the hitch container and the bikes on at the same time)Extras available at additional costs:
***TOW capacity is ONLY 5000 lbs and permission to tow will be determined by us. Towing puts more strain and wear on our RV with much more potential for damage. Give us more info on what you are towing, how far and your towing experience and capabilities. Tow fee is $100 PER DAY please add it. Any Towing without permission will be charged and will loose entire deposit. Many owners will not allow towing.
Rent a 6 man (fits in the overhead compartments inside the RV)Rent 10 man instant tent too long for the overhead compartment. you will need to rent the hitch box as well OR put the tent at the feet of the middle captain chairs.
RecommendationsWe love to boat and visit the national parks. There are some places where you can find Walmarts that you can camp a night at when you can't find a spot. We also might be able to tell you about otherwise not well known spots for you to camp along your route.-I answer messages within a few hours. Communication through Outdoorsy is sometimes a little spotty. If you don’t hear back from me in a reasonable amount of time, it is likely I did not get your message, please try again or try calling. Please note- I am not a rental agency- I am a mom of 5, doing this on the side. I have commitments and appointments so I am not available to wait for long periods of time or change my meeting times without prior communication. I will do whatever I can to accommodate you and make this a great experience for you. Please also respect my time, communicate well, be on time, let me know what is going on and be flexible. If there is anything wrong with the RV while you are on your trip, you need to let me know while it is happening so that I can help you or get help for you. If you tell me after or choose not to accept help, and do not give me a chance to help you that is your choice but you will likely not be reimbursed for that. Good communication is ESSENTIAL. Thank you!All transactions will go through Outdoorsy. Please line item in a message to me any add ons that you would like to use. Please be careful on soft sand and deep ruts. Remember it is 15000 pounds! If you get stuck its kinda a big deal! Other things to notePlease plan to spend 1-1.5 hour to learn about the RV when you pick it up. Unless you know the van or watched the videos and have rented similar in the past. After the rental is accepted you must become a VERIFIED DRIVER. We will only rent to verified drivers. About us: We are a family of 7! Our 5 kids are growing up way to fast! It was time to take advantage of the few summers we get with them. We like to travel, ski, hike & go boating. Of all of the small van-like 24 foot RVs we looked at, you either have seating for 4-8 & sleeping for 2 or you have kiddos sitting straight across the dinning area with their feet hitting each other! We wanted to minimize the chance for a kicking war & aim for family peace! That’s a lofty, mostly unattainable goal, I know! But this Van just might help a little! We traveled comfortably with 4 adults and 4 kids with minimal seating issues! WIN!

Q.Can you "dry camp" or "boondock" in this RV? How long do the tanks last?
A.
You can camp easily camp in this RV with NO camp site or hookups. Hook ups are a plus if you can find a site. You will need to know where dump sites and potable water fill ups are about every 2-4 days depending on the amount of people in your group. There is a solar system that helps keep the batteries charged, the fridge and furnace run off the propane or you can hook them into power at a camp site. There's a built in generator for AC or microwave use. This is NOT a 4x4.

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
I am happy to be flexible with picking up and dropping off times and locations, when circumstances permit. This just depends on if the ERA is being rented before or after your rental. You may want to add a night at the start or end of your trip if you know you will not be able to return the vehicle by 11am or you would like to pick it up well before 3pm. Pick up is set at 3pm or after drop off is 11am or before. At pick up you will need about 1-1.5 hours to learn the RV and do the key exchange.
